About the Journal

This journal is published quarterly in Japanese.　Starting from Vol.11 (No. 1), the journal title was changed from "BIFIDUS". The journal is composed of general comments, original reports, reviews, experimental procedures, a summary of literatures, related in formations, and a bulletin. Although anyone can use bibliography information, such as an abstract in English and Japanese, it becomes service of only a member to looking-get the whole sentence PDF of the paper which published within 1 year.

Topics covered include:

• composition, ecology and metabolic activities of intestinal microbiota.
• factors affecting intestinal microbiota including antibiotics and diet.
• taxonomy of intestinal bacteria
• role of intestinal microbiota in health and diseases including infectious and other gastrointestinal disorders, cancer, allergy and metabolic syndrome.
• effects of intestinal microbiota on host immunity, nutrition and responses to stress.
• probiotics, prebiotics and biogenics.

The journal also welcomes technological papers including investigative methods, molecular biology and animal and in vitro models.
